POETRY'S SHARP EDGE 

I have written poetry all my life, but this site is specifically designed to register current events in our country and the world.  We are in a challenging time, and being fully aware of problems and opportunities is essential.  W. H. Auden in his poem on the death of W. B. Yeats said, "poetry makes nothing happen."  P. B. Shelley in his Defense of Poetry said, "Poets are the unacknowledged legislators of the world."  There is some truth to both statements, but this site is dedicated to the proposition that poetry can make something happen, that poetry matters.
